Meet Associate Dean Cari Flint

Dr. Cari Flint is a Los Angeles native who joined the College staff as Associate Dean in August 2024 after 25 years as a Professor in the Department of Communication Disorders at Cal State LA.  Serving first as the Director of the Robert L. Douglass Speech and Language Clinic for 14 years and then as Department Chair for seven years. Dr. Flint is deeply committed to serving the students at Cal State LA and the surrounding community.  She has experience with curriculum development, enrollment management, accreditation, and assessment.

Dr. Flint received her Bachelor of Arts degree, Master of Arts degree, and Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from UC Santa Barbara and is a Certified Speech-Language Pathologist.  As a Professor and Clinic Director in the Department of Communication Disorders she established several community partnerships, developed several new programs, and led the department through semester conversion.  As Department Chair she established a department-level DEI committee, secured a gift agreement to fund the Speech and Language Clinic, and oversaw the implementation of the first Doctor of Audiology Program in the CSU.

Dr. Flint is deeply committed to shared governance.  In addition to serving on numerous department, college, and university-level committees, she served on the Academic Senate for 18 years.  For 13 of those years she served on the Executive Committee of the Academic Senate and served as Vice Chair for six years.
